The 42nd Annual NHC Gala will honor two organizations that have seized on opportunities to improve how we fund, build, plan, and communicate about affordable housing.

Receiving the Housing Visionary Award will be the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) and Enterprise Community Partners. NHC will also honor Dianne Spaulding of the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California with the Carl A. S. Coan, Sr. Award for Public Service to Affordable Housing.

Formerly the Housing Person of the Year Award, the Housing Visionary Award recognizes organizations or individuals shaping the path forward for affordable housing in America through leadership, innovation, and a focus on people, communities and partnership. NHC renamed the award to reflect our commitment to showcasing visionary leadership within the housing community, whether it stems from the work of individuals or organizations.

As it has for over four decades, this year’s gala provides members and friends of the housing community a chance to connect, celebrate, and reflect on the work that must still be done to ensure safe, decent and affordable housing for all in America.

Annual Policy Symposium

Join policymakers, practitioners, and housing stakeholders in learning how affordable housing is advancing around the country and what federal policy action is needed to help it continue. Panelists will describe innovative strategies in development, advocacy, lending, state and local policy, and more and discuss how each interacts with federal housing policy. Topics during the day include the emerging single-family rental market, affordable homeownership strategies, effective state-level advocacy campaigns, local inclusionary housing incentives, and more.
