Conference Overview

Despite the slow improvement in the economy, millions of Americans continue to struggle with severe housing cost burdens, foreclosures, and other housing challenges that undermine their health, educational achievement, and economic well-being. Solutions 2013 armed practitioners, advocates, policymakers and program administrators with the best available information on how localities and states can work collaboratively to address residents’ housing challenges and develop inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities.

Who Should Attend?

Solutions conferences are designed to be useful to both newcomers and experienced practitioners and policymakers by offering a comprehensive, highly interactive educational experience over the three-day conference.  The series includes opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, mobile workshops, facilitated discussions, panel discussions, networking receptions and breakfasts, and plenary sessions.

Tracks and Sessions

Solutions 2013 featured concurrent tracks with sessions on:

Restoring Neighborhoods highlights strategies that communities can use for preventing foreclosures, stabilizing neighborhoods and creating a more resilient housing system.

Solutions for Inclusive Communities explores local and state policies such as inclusionary housing, long-term affordability, affirmatively furthering fair housing, and community benefits agreements that expand affordable housing opportunity in desirable neighborhoods. Offered in partnership with the Innovative Housing Institute.

How Housing Matters

How Housing Matters explores the many ways in which stable, affordable housing helps to support other important social outcomes such as health, education and economic prosperity.

Housing Communications focuses on promising communications strategies for expanding awareness of the benefits of affordable housing and building support for affordable housing policies and development.

Veterans Older Adults

Look for sessions on new and innovative strategies to serve the housing needs of veterans and older adults throughout the conference.
