Communications Intern

The National Housing Conference (NHC) is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to ensuring safe, decent and affordable housing for all Americans since 1931. NHC has earned its strong reputation as the United Voice for Housing by actively engaging and convening is membership in nonpartisan advocacy for effective housing policy solutions at the local, state and national levels.

NHC has an immediate opening for a full-time communications intern.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Providing communications and organizational support for key events and activities, including the NHC’s national symposium in September;
  • Brainstorming new ways to reach target audiences through communications strategies; 
  • Contributing to blog maintenance and outreach, as well as new and social media outreach through online networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr and YouTube; 
  • Helping update and expand media and blogger outreach lists; and
  • Supporting both the director of communications and the communications and new media associate in day to day duties.


Requirements:

Good writing and communications skills, as well as attention to detail needed.

Time frame and hours:
August – December
Full time: Five days per week

Compensation:
Unpaid
Transportation stipend available
