The Center for Housing Policy is the research division of the National Housing Conference. Established by NHC in 1992 as a research and education organization devoted to the development of public policy for the future of housing, the Center has become a widely-respected source of information and research on vital issues around affordable housing needs and solutions.

At the end of 2013, the leadership of NHC and the Center determined that bringing the two organizations together would strengthen the work of both. Folding the Center into NHC as the research division allows both organizations to operate with greater efficiency. Even more importantly, the Center’s research will benefit from the breadth of knowledge and experience offered by NHC’s members, while NHC’s advocacy and communications work will gain from the Center’s practical research.
