NHC 2011 Housing Person of Date: Thursday, June 23, 2011 Time: 5:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Location: National Building Museum |
The esteemed honorees, the historic setting, the 80th anniversary of the National Housing Conference--all combined to create a perfect evening for hundreds of people gathered to honor Sister Lillian Murphy, RSM, of Mercy Housing and Professor Nicolas P. Retsinas of Harvard Business School at NHC's 2011 Housing Person of the Year Gala. More than 200 people later attended a policy summit on mortgage finance reform held the following day, where Congressman Gary Miller announced that he will introduce a bill to reform the GSEs and maintain stability in the mortgage finance system, in contrast to precipitous and disruptive wind-down proposals already circulating. "NHC is grateful to everyone who supported or attended the Gala helping us mark our 80th year as an organization with a remarkable event that exemplified the enthusiasm and commitment to providing decent, safe, affordable housing that has been at the heart of NHC from the beginning," said Maureen Friar, NHC President and CEO. Join NHC as we continue to actively engage and convene our members in nonpartisan advocacy for effective housing policy solutions at the local, state, and national levels. |
