For more than 75 years, the nonprofit National Housing Conference (NHC) has been the United Voice for Housing. A membership drawn from every industry segment forms the foundation for NHC’s broad, nonpartisan advocacy for national policies and legislation that promote suitable housing in a safe, decent environment.
NHC's research affiliate, the Center for Housing Policy, specializes in developing solutions through research. In partnership with NHC and its members, the Center works to broaden understanding of the nation’s housing challenges and to examine the impact of policies and programs developed to address these needs.
- Promoting policies, programs and legislation that help to provide affordable and suitable housing in a safe, decent environment;
- Researching the affordable housing challenges facing America's working families, and explaining the impact on the social and economic well-being of these families and the community at large;
- Broadening the constituency base of those actively involved in the fight for quality affordable housing;
- Elevating national awareness concerning the importance of and need for decent, affordable housing;
- Honoring and showcasing the work of individuals and organizations that have made a positive contribution to the advancement of affordable housing; and
- Serving as a clearinghouse for unbiased, nonpartisan information on housing and housing related concerns.
