ROSS OF THE RELATED COMPANIES AND CHARTERMAC HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITMENT AND LEADERSHIP
Stephen Ross, Chairman and CEO of The Related Companies and Chairman and Founder of CharterMac, Receives the NHC “2005 Housing Person of the Year Award”
at Washington Gala
Washington, DC – Stephen M. Ross, chairman and CEO of The Related Companies, L.P. and chairman and founder of CharterMac, was honored today with the National Housing Conference (NHC) 2005 Housing Person of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to and leadership in the fields of affordable housing and community development. The Related Companies was formed by Ross in 1972 and oversees a real estate portfolio valued at over $12 billion. CharterMac, through its subsidiaries, is one of the nation's leading full-service real estate finance companies, with a strong core focus on multifamily financing. The Award Ceremony and Dinner honoring Ross was held at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Alan Wiener, chairman of American Property Financing, served as the chairman of the Dinner Committee and Master of Ceremonies at the gala.

Stephen Ross is a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Board of New York. He also is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of NYC2012, the committee leading New York's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. Ross is on the Board of Directors of the Guggenheim Museum and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and is a trustee of the National Building Museum and the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Based on a substantial gift in 2004, the University of Michigan renamed its Business School the “Stephen M. Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan.”
Each year, in our nation’s capital, NHC honors a person who has contributed significantly to the goal of increased affordable housing and strong, healthy communities throughout the nation. This event, which attracts nearly 1,000 key industry leaders, is an annual celebration of achievement.
