Congressional Update on Fiscal Year 2010 Appropriations

Congress has resumed session for a busy four-week work period. During this time, policymakers will continue to work on legislation to authorize the government to spend money during fiscal year 2010.

Leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives have stated that it is their goal to complete work on all 12 appropriations bills before the August recess; meanwhile, the Senate hopes to complete this work by September 30, 2009, which marks the end of the fiscal year.

In keeping with this goal, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies will hold a hearing on proposed fiscal 2010 appropriations for programs under its jurisdiction at 9:30 a.m. next Thursday, June 11 in Room 138 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
